This book is intended as an introduction to the life and work of Blair Hughes-Stanton, with special reference to his wood engravings. These have hitherto been known only to a narrow public, largely because the majority appeared in private press books of limited circulation and because the few dozen of his personal independent engravings were printed in small editions.
The representative selection of engravings is preceded by a detailed checklist of the books containing illustrations by Hughes-Stanton and a list of his independent prints including the later linocuts.
