The Book Illustrations of Orlando Jewitt
By Frank Broomhead
The present survey is an outcome of over forty years of one aspect of book collecting interest — that of books containing illustrations by Orlando Jewitt. This study is not a biography of Orlando Jewitt, nor is it a critique of his work, but it is intended to present an approximate chronological outline description of major items of his output.
Whilst primarily concerned with the life and work of Jewitt, some incidental information on other members of his family and people whom his work brought him into contact is also included. This account of Jewitt's work is accompanied by a reasonably complete checklist of books containing his illustrations.
